He would go on to become a lieutenant colonel in the American Revolution, a close confidant to George Washington, a delegate to the Constitutional Convention, and first Secretary of the Treasury.  I first read this as “poor internet merchant” and immediately thought of a cheesy sales site with a MIDI playing in the background.  The internet has ruined me for life.
